Examinations and assessments
Depending on the licence and training route, applicants may need to complete:
- Theoretical knowledge examinations.
- Practical flight training.
- A flight skills test.
- Instrument and multi-engine training where required.
- Additional aircraft type training for particular commercial operations.
For example, an ATPL applicant must satisfy the requirements associated with the aircraft type used for the relevant skills test.
Official application fees
The CAA publishes licensing fees separately from flight-training expenses. Its published fee page lists £341 for the initial issue of certain professional Part-FCL licences, including ATPL(A), CPL(A) and MPL.
Fees depend on the exact application and service.
